Today I explored the small island on the Tiber river called Isla Tiberina. It was recommended to me by my archaeology teacher (who is quite the character!). According to him there is a legend of an ancient tree on the island that is the birthplace of Rome. There is also an area of the island that has functioned as a hospital since the third century where there about 4,000 babies born every year.
